How did you two first meet?

We met in England at university where we were both training to become secondary school teachers. After finishing our studies, we lived in South Korea for two years before finally moving to Switzerland together where we now live.

Could you share the details of your engagement story?

Ben proposed on a camping trip. We were sat by the campfire and there was a beautiful sunset. He had packed a bottle of our favourite wine too...it was all very romantic.

What inspired your choice of colours, decorations, and overall atmosphere of the wedding day?

We hoped to have a simple Sunday wedding that would be timeless and elegant. As we live abroad, being able to spend the day with all of our loved ones was the most important aspect.

Opting for classic white and ivory flowers with green foliage, some of which had been collected from my grandmother’s garden. We also arrived in a classic Jaguar which was the exact model my late grandfather drove- that felt very special.

How did you choose your wedding location?

When my father and stepmother had their wedding reception at Lainston House, I was a bridesmaid at 10 years old and remembered it to be the most amazing place.

After our engagement, Ben and I both visited and immediately felt at home. The house and grounds were beautiful, and we found every member of staff to be genuinely warm and welcoming. We really loved sitting with our coffees in the Cedar Bar lined with books, and the views of the sweeping lawns. Lainston House just seemed effortlessly luxurious; the perfect place whatever the weather.

Did you have any challenges or surprises along the way?

I managed to find a Jaguar car for hire, which was the same model my late grandfather drove. It meant a lot to see it pull up in my grandmother’s driveway and then travel to Lainston with both my grandmother and father with me. I searched everywhere to find it though-that probably took the most time to organize.

What were some of the most memorable moments on your wedding day?

It went so quickly! After the ceremony, it was lovely to see everyone enjoying cocktails in the sunshine on the lawn. It meant so much to have everyone together in one place and there was a great atmosphere. Later during our meal, we were able to have the barn doors wide open which meant the space was flooded with natural light. We had also rented real trees and the branches and sunlight meant it felt like we were outside.

At the end of the evening when we retired with a small group of remaining guests to the Library Bar in the main house. Ben and I were able to say goodnight to the guests staying at the hotel. The following morning, we had an intimate breakfast with everyone who had stayed over. It was a very comfortable and relaxed way to finish the celebrations.

What advice can you give to future brides?

If you can, have a coffee with your florist, talk with the team at your menu-tasting and arrange a trial with your make-up artist. Getting to know the suppliers before the day meant we were surrounded by familiar faces and people that really cared.

Is there anyone specific you would like to express your gratitude to?

The whole team at Lainston House were brilliant. They made the whole process stress-free and it was lovely to see everyone again on the day.

It was lovely when our photographer, Joshua, arrived, as it felt like another friend at the door. Our florist, Gemma, after delivering the bouquets and buttonholes, stayed for a chat as we were all getting ready, and our make up artist Evie also stayed throughout th emorning preparations- making everyone feel at ease. Everyone just went above and beyond and we are so grateful to all of the suppliers and staff who made the day so memorable.

What drew you to the TEMPÊTE brand for your bridal wear / accessories?

The brand is just effortlessly chic. I loved how unique the accessories were and the range of designs, textures and ethereal fabrics.
