A co-worker and a friend of mine from Hapa (Japanese restaurant) runs a website called 6oz Vancouver.

Kiersten, says that: "My goal with this blog is to rediscover Vancouver and share what I find with the people who love our little-big city on the straight. All this requires from you is an open mind and a sample sized, child-like sense of curiosity. Go out and try something new, whether it's a gallery opening, a new frozen yoghurt shoppe, a vintage store, a DJ set or a fundraiser. You may just find yourself feeling like you're 6 years old again, excited beyond words to turn over that big rock on the beach... just to see what was there."

Back in April, Davie & Chiyo had its very first photo shoot with a model. Lets call this album, spring 2009. :D

I chose to be our model, my friend and co-worker from my part time job, Rosy Yang. She is born and raised in Korea, and now lives in Vancouver with her Italian fiance, and she is drop dead GORGEOUS. I have been eying her for months now, wanting her to model for Davie & Chiyo. Not only is she naturally beautiful, she has the best sense of style IN THE WORLD. So I knew long before we even started talking about the photo shoot that she was going to make my life very very easy if I chose her to model Davie & Chiyo products. And I was right.

Along with another friend from work, JinHee, who takes pictures as a hobby, spent just a couple of hours or so, at this heritage park in the middle of west end, downtown Vancouver. The two of us took 300 pictures together, and got some amazing results!!

Our next photo shoot, is going to be in two weeks or so, and it's going to be called 'Summer 2009'!! But the thing is we keep coming up with new products all the time, so ideally, I want to do a photo shoot every month! Rosy? Are you down??

So this is my first blog update in over a month! SUPER ashamed of myself!! The only excuse I have is that I was too busy? :D

Portobello West was definitely a learning experience more than anything else. It was Davie & Chiyo's first real showcase, and the look of the shop was more important than anything else. We spent a solid week preceding the event, running around town, going to display shops and ikea to get the merchandising display figured out for the showcase.

After discussing this and that, we decided to go for the whole industrial, open steel look. This means bare metal frame back ground and using nothing but cool metal for everything else from the check out table to the clips holding the price tags. Nothing wood, and nothing too soft and cute.

Overall, it went well but there is definitely a huge room for improvements next time!
