This week, the featured clutch is the "Classy Heart."
This fabric is an import from the UK, and the pattern is actually not really a heart, but placing it so on the front of the clutch makes it look appear so. This clutch was featured this week because of the versatility of its design. This clutch is elegant yet cute, formal yet casual, and manages to even be a perfect gift for Valentine's day!

This week, the featured clutch is the "Pink-Chocolate Bow."
Since it is two weeks to Valentine's Day, I thought the featured clutch had to be something romantic. Pink and brown is a classic colour combination, and I think this clutch is the definition of "pretty."
All those men out there, do you want to melt a girl's heart? Combine this clutch with a message label saying ... "If I know what love is, it is because of you." (or something less cheesy)

After I posted the entry about sending in some of your wedding photos in exchange for a store discount coupon, I emailed all my past customers letting them know about it.
The emails started pouring in immediately! It was very close as to who actually became the "first three" to send a photo in for the free clutch that I promised. Here are the lucky three:
1. Danielle Maksimow
2. Maria Soldo
3. Jeanne Baby
For the rest of you that participated, rest assured, you will still be receiving a 50% discount coupon (via email) to be used for any clutch in the shop! (And to those of you that are planning to do so in the future)
Thanks to everyone who participated! The section "Once upon a time ...," displaying photos of my past customers will be up and running in the web-shop soon. In the meantime, here are some of my favourites:

This week, the featured clutch is the "Ivory Ruffles."
This design is our latest creation that we have in the shop. It was designed two weeks ago, and just barely made it into the "Bridal Bash" that we held in the shop. In its first weekend, this clutch out sold any of our other designs by more than double. And this includes our previous best seller of all time, the bow clutch.
Now time will tell to see if the ruffles can hang on to the fame as well as the bows have!

Those of you who have purchased our clutches for your wedding, I have a small proposal to make.
If you email me your wedding photo that has a good image of our clutch in it, you will receive a 50% discount coupon to be used for any item in the shop.
The photos will be included in a new section of the website called "Once Upon a Time ..." where the clutches from past customers will be showcased, giving the upcoming brides some ideas of different custom work that we can do. This section will be up and running by the end of February.
To give it a little boost, rather than offering a 50% discount coupon, I will send you a free clutch for the first three to send a photo in!

As one of my goals for 2010, which is to make the webshop more engaging and interesting, I have decided to start a fun little event called "The Clutch of the Week."
We will be featuring a different clutch each week in the shop under the category "Clutch of the Week." There will be a little blurb explaining the reason behind why that particular clutch was chosen for the week, and the clutch will also be discounted 25%. No one will know what the clutch of the week will be until Monday morning each week, and the discount for that clutch will last for just one week until a different product will replace its spot on the following Monday.
This week, the featured clutch is "The Hollywood Fuchsia."
To jump start the Valentine theme that we will be following for the next couple of weeks, we decided to go with the bright pink clutch this week. This clutch is also known as the one that started Davie & Chiyo. Not only is it the best seller of all time, it is THE clutch the blonde logo girl is holding!

I went to a wedding fair here in Vancouver last weekend at the Westin Bayshore Hotel located at coal harbour. It was a massive event with over 150 exhibitors. I was trying to scope out the event to see if it is something I would like to participate in the near future.
There were a ton of vendors presenting photography services, destination wedding ideas, wedding planners, venues, wedding cakes and dresses. But like I had guessed, not a lot of accessories vendors other than engagement rings and wedding bands. I definitely did not see clutches anywhere in sight. Now, I don't know whether this is a bad thing or a good thing ... maybe a wedding clutch is something of a value too small to be exhibiting in a huge wedding fair like this one. The cost to participate in the show is just too large that you will never make back the cost. Or maybe there just aren't many people out there making customizable clutches for weddings?
As I walked around, I tried to analyze what the wedding trend of 2010 was. What colours are popular, what theme... I have to keep in mind of what the wedding trend is in general to make sure that the clutches works well for the brides and fit in with the rest of the wedding decor.
These are some of the trends that I noticed as I toured around the tradeshow, making my way through all the newly engaged couples:
-black and white weddings (carried of from last year)
-using turquoise as the main colour
-Victorian designs in decor
-use damask in decor
-pure white and crystal weddings
-ruffles in dresses
If anyone has any more ideas on what the trends of 2010 may be, let me know!
